// In short

Do you need a custom plugin?

Choose custom plugin development when no existing plugin does what you need, or when several plugins are patched together to fake one feature. For a one-off fix or tweak, WordPress Bug Fixing is quicker; for connecting apps outside WordPress, n8n Automation may be simpler. MD Shamim Mahmud builds WordPress and WooCommerce plugins with admin screens, custom data and API integrations, tested on staging and handed over with full source code.

// Who it’s for

When a custom plugin is the answer

Most sites don’t need a custom plugin. These are the cases where one usually pays for itself.

  • No plugin does it

    You’ve tried the plugin directory and nothing fits how your business works.

  • Too many plugins

    Four plugins and custom CSS are patched together to fake one feature.

  • You need an integration

    WordPress has to talk to a CRM, ERP, payment provider or another API.

  • A task repeats every day

    Exports, imports or updates that someone does by hand in the admin.

// What’s included

What every plugin comes with

Every plugin project includes these. Third-party API or licence costs, if any, are listed separately.

  • Written specification

    What the plugin does, screens, settings and limits, agreed before coding.

  • Standards-based code

    WordPress coding standards, nonces, capability checks and escaping.

  • Admin screens

    Settings pages and tools that fit the normal WordPress admin.

  • Custom data done right

    Custom post types, meta or tables chosen for what the data needs.

  • API integrations

    Connections to outside services with error handling and logs.

  • Staging tests

    Tested with your theme, plugins and PHP version before going live.

  • Documentation

    How to use it, settings explained and notes for future developers.

  • Full ownership

    All source code is yours after payment. No licence lock-in.

Custom plugin or existing plugin?

An existing plugin is often the right answer. A custom one makes sense when the fit is poor or the workaround is costing time every week.

// FAQ

Plugin development questions

What business owners and agencies ask before a custom plugin.

Still have a question? Ask me directly

How much does a custom WordPress plugin cost?

A simple plugin with one focused feature starts from $499, and an advanced plugin with admin tools, custom data or API connections from $1,249 (USD), about 30% below what comparable freelancers typically charge. The final price comes from a written specification you approve first.

How do payments work?

You pay 50% to start and 50% at handover, after you have tested the plugin on staging. Every payment comes with an invoice and a receipt.

Will I own the code?

Yes. Full source code is yours after payment, with no licence keys or lock-in.

Will it break when WordPress updates?

It’s built with standard WordPress APIs, which keeps it stable across updates. Major PHP or WooCommerce changes can still need small updates, which a care plan or a quick fix can cover.

Can you build WooCommerce features?

Yes. Custom product options, checkout fields, order exports, pricing rules and integrations are common requests.

Can it connect to my CRM or another app?

Usually, yes, if the other service has an API. Sometimes an n8n automation is a simpler option, and I’ll tell you if that’s the case.

How long does it take?

A simple plugin often takes 1–2 weeks; advanced plugins take longer. The timeline is in your proposal.

Is the code secure?

Yes. It follows WordPress security practices: nonces, capability checks, sanitising input and escaping output, and it’s tested on staging.
